RMU celebrated its 15th Convocation on January 11, 2025, honoring the academic achievements of its graduates across multiple disciplines

Golden Jubilee Celebrations

RMU celebrated its 50th anniversary with a week of activities (Dec 16–24, 2023), featuring international conferences, symposia, and workshops—commemorating its evolution into a premier medical university

Community Health Initiatives On World Hepatitis Day (July 2024)

RMU hosted a seminar to raise awareness about hepatitis prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and vaccination—continuing its strong focus on public health outreach

The libraries started in Rawalpindi Medical University Main Campus, New Teaching Block and Allied Hospitals i.e College of Nursing Holy Family and College of Nursing District Head Quarter in present form because of concrete measures taken by the Worthy Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Umar (S.I, H.I).

About US

Historical Background

Established as Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC) in Faisalabad on March 18, 1974, the institution relocated to Rawalpindi on November 5, 1974, occupying the science block of Gordon College on Tipu Road . Over the years, RMC expanded its academic and infrastructural facilities, including the development of its library services to support the growing needs of students and faculty. In May 2017, RMC was upgraded to university status, becoming Rawalpindi Medical University

Organizations

RMU's library system comprises two main facilities:

1. Main Teaching Block Library Located on the first floor of the Tipu Road campus, this library serves as a longstanding resource center.

2. New Teaching Block Library (Satellite Town Campus) Situated within the premises of Holy Family Hospital, this modern library caters to MBBS students, Allied Health Sciences students, faculty, and researchers.

Welcome

     The library of Rawalpindi Medical University is a multi-specialty library designed to serve the academic & research information needs of the MBBS students, allied health sciences students, university faculty, staff, Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital, doctors, and researchers.

     The library has an information archive containing an extensive collection of medical books and available international medical journals & health-related issues from various sources with the aim to support both scholarly pursuits for academic excellence and high-quality practical research in healthcare professionals.

       Moreover, it has a basic collection of printed and electronic books and free access to HEC databases. The library is managed by a nice blend of professionals and paraprofessionals. They all are well-qualified and experienced professionals, dedicated to providing high-quality, innovative services
