Department of Infectious Disease HFH

     Established in 2015, the Department of Infectious Diseases at Rawalpindi Medical University has become a pioneering center in northern Punjab, committed to delivering superior patient care through state-of-the-art diagnostics, evidence-based treatments, and stringent infection control. Our team effectively manages a broad spectrum of infectious diseases, including COVID-19 and recurrent dengue epidemics in the Rawalpindi and Islamabad region, ensuring timely interventions and improved outcomes.

    In addition to our clinical excellence, we are dedicated to advancing healthcare through education and research. We offer robust training programs and continuous professional development for healthcare providers across public and private sectors. In collaboration with DEAG Punjab, our department has been hosting regular dengue clinical management workshops and seminars, serving as a vital resource center that fosters cross-sector expertise. These initiatives empower clinicians with the latest strategies to combat emerging infectious threats and elevate public health standards in the region. The following are different workshops that are conducted every week in the Department of Infectious Disease with the aim of improving patient care, management and overall welfare of the patient.
  • Workshop on Dengue Management Protocols according to DEAG Guidelines (every Wednesday)
  • Workshop on Waste Management (every Thursday)
  • Workshop on Infection Prevention and Control (Every Saturday)
  • Workshop on Hand Hygiene (Every Monday)
The following workshops have been conducted in the Department of Infectious Disease over the years:
  • Training of Family Physicians of Rawalpindi in Collaboration with Family Physician Academy and Punjab Health Commission:
Family physicians in Rawalpindi received targeted training in collaboration with the Family Physician Academy and Punjab Health Commission. The workshop enhanced primary care skills for effective infectious disease management.
  • Training of Healthcare Professionals Regarding Dengue Epidemic and Management:
Healthcare professionals were updated on the latest dengue management protocols. The training emphasized early diagnosis, treatment, and outbreak prevention. These workshops are still conducted every Wednesday in our department.
  • Training of Healthcare Professionals for Managing Monkey Pox:
A focused session educated professionals on identifying and managing monkeypox. The workshop provided practical insights into diagnosis and care. Training of Healthcare Professionals for Managing Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Specialized training equipped healthcare workers with skills to manage Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever. The session highlighted evidence-based treatments and strict infection control.
  • Training of Healthcare Professionals for Managing COVID-19:
An intensive workshop updated clinicians on evolving COVID‑19 protocols. The training covered best practices for diagnosis, treatment, and infection prevention.
