• It is the oldest urology unit in northern Punjab, established in 1970.
• This unit has the honor of performing the first renal transplant in Pakistan.
• We provide round the clock urological services to all 3 sister allied hospitals of Rawalpindi medical university (BBH/HFH/DHQ).

OPD Clinics:
We run urology OPD 6 days a week, by senior registrars/ consultants. Yearly OPD in 2019 was 32530 (Male 20618, Female 11912)
EXTRACORPOREAL SHOCK WAVE LITHOTRIPSY:
We have a functioning modern electro-conducive lithotripsy machine for the treatment of renal and ureteric stones without surgery.
OUR ACHIEVEMENTS:
We perform all kinds of urological surgery including open surgery, endoscopic surgery, vascular su
rgery and transplant. The unit also harbors its own 14 bedded dialysis center which provides hemodialysis services free of cost to the chronic renal failure patients. In 2019 this unit performed 7547 hemodialyses.
RENAL TRANSPLANT
We started renal transplantation at Benazir Bhutto Hospital in 2013. 1st successful renal transplant was done on 23rd may 2013, and currently now we are in the process of accreditation by Punjab HOTA, so that we can begin regular renal transplantation on regular basis. The cost of renal transplantation in private sector is around Rs. 20 lakhs, but in our setup it is only the expense of investigations and few medication is about Rs. 1 Lakh.

We have an average of 250-300 patients per day in urology OPD.
INPATIENT
Urology inpatient admissions were 1228 (OPD 984, ER 244) in 2019. Bed occupancy is 100% with waiting times of 6-12 months for admission.
SURGERY
We performed 975 operations in 2019 (minor 254/ major 696)
DIALYSIS
We performed 12540 Dialysis in 2019
