Department of Cardiology RMU

Department of Cardiology of Rawalpindi Medical University is one of the oldest cardiology units of the Government of Punjab in the region, providing cardiology services to patients from a vast area. Being a referral hospital, it receives various cardiac patients from its vast catchment areas. The primary department is located in Benazir Bhutto Hospital. It is 30 bedded, non- interventional unit with almost all the basic non-invasive modalities. It has also a 10 bedded CCU with facilities for monitoring, diagnosis and management of different cardiac ailments. More than 10000 cardiac patients report in the Cardiology OPD & Emergency department of Benazir Bhutto Hospital annually, and about a quarter of them are admitted for indoor management. This unit is also noted for its devotion to patients and motivation to achieve excellence in providing cardiac related healthcare services.

The idea of disease Project is based on patient care approach and its the holistic review ,which will encompass its prevalence, mode of presentation along with other demographic details, epidemiological review, interpretation of data , devise local guidelines based on audit, community awareness, innovation and grants for research .
