Introduction

Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) recognizes the importance of supporting its faculty, staff, and students by promoting a healthy work-life balance. To facilitate this goal, RMU established a Child Care Facility (Day Care Centre) at the New Campus, Holy Family Hospital Complex, providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for the children of university employees and students.

This initiative ensures that parents can carry out their professional and academic responsibilities with peace of mind, knowing their children are under the supervision of trained caregivers in a secure, developmentally supportive atmosphere.

Existing Child Care Centers

RMU currently operates two Child Care Centers with plans for expansion to better serve our community.

Holy Family Hospital (HFH) Campus

Status: Fully functional and operating

Hours: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Capacity: 40 children

Services: Full daycare, emergency care, nutritional meals

Operational

Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH)

Status: Space allocated for renovation

Project: 10 million PKR development

Expected Capacity: 30 children

Timeline: Completion expected in 6 months

Future Expansion Plan

To further strengthen RMU's commitment to family-friendly policies, the university is launching an expansion plan to establish three additional Child Care Centers.

Annual Operational Budget

RMU has approved an annual operational and training budget of PKR 30 Million for staff salaries, child development programs, and maintenance across all childcare facilities.

24-Hour Services

The Day Care Centre (DCC) at Holy Family Hospital operates round the clock (24/7), ensuring that medical professionals, nursing staff, and students on different shifts can access the facility conveniently.

Services Provided:

  • Care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
  • Nutritious meals and snacks
  • Rest and play areas
  • Cognitive and social development activities
  • Emergency medical support within the hospital premises
  • Trained nursing staff available at all times
  • Educational activities and learning programs

Important Note

For overnight stays, parents must provide necessary items including diapers, change of clothes, and any special dietary requirements. All items should be clearly labeled with the child's name.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Our childcare facilities operate under strict Standard Operating Procedures to ensure the highest standards of safety, hygiene, and care.

General Conduct

  • Parents must remove shoes before entering daycare area
  • Identification is mandatory for entry
  • Charges for non-registered children applicable daily
  • Complete child data required at registration
  • Separate fee structures for multiple shifts

Childcare Responsibilities

  • Children must be clean and properly dressed
  • Diapers changed every two hours by staff
  • Handwashing before meals and after toileting
  • Diapering area disinfected regularly
  • Small toys (under 1 inch) prohibited

Staff Guidelines

  • Punctuality and responsibility mandatory
  • Strict cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Immediate reporting of injuries or illnesses
  • Confidential health records maintenance
  • Regular training in child psychology and safety

Administrative Procedures

RMU Oversight Committee

The RMU Day Care Oversight Committee supervises all centers to ensure compliance with standards.

24-hour surveillance ensures child safety and staff accountability.

Staff Training
