It is my proud privilege to share this message on the commencement of the BS Nursing Program offered at the Nursing Colleges of Holy Family Hospital (HFH), Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), and DHQ Hospital.
The nursing school at Holy Family Hospital was originally established in 1928 by the Missionaries of Philadelphia. Since then, despite sincere efforts over the years, there was no structured and sustainable system to upgrade nursing education at Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) and its allied teaching hospitals. Several initiatives were undertaken; however, they could not achieve the desired outcome due to various constraints.
Finally, in 2016, our dedicated team successfully achieved approval for the establishment and upgradation of the Nursing Colleges, secured the required budget through PLA, and obtained formal approval from the Board of Management (BOM). Tremendous efforts were made to acquire accreditation from the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and affiliation with the University of Health Sciences (UHS), which were ultimately accomplished.
Today, the Nursing Colleges at HFH, BBH, and DHQ stand as state-of-the-art institutions, equipped with modern classrooms, auditoriums, fully functional skills laboratories, and well-resourced libraries. The teaching faculty is highly qualified, well-trained, and fully prepared to deliver quality education aligned with contemporary nursing standards.
I extend my best wishes for great success to the BS Nursing students, faculty members, and administrative teams, and I am confident that these institutions will play a vital role in producing competent, compassionate, and professional nurses for the healthcare system of Pakistan.
