President's Message
I am deeply honoured and grateful to have been elected President of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of Northern Europe (APPNE), established to support and advocate for Pakistani physicians. I am proud to lead APPNE—the largest and most influential organisation representing Pakistani physicians in the UK and across Europe. It is a responsibility I do not take lightly, and one I will approach with sincerity, purpose, and unwavering dedication.
APPNE’s journey began in 2018, born from a vision to create a unique and dynamic platform for the Pakistani medical diaspora in Northern Europe. Today, our membership stands at 3,760. APPNE is now the largest organisation of international medical graduates (IMGs) in Europe. We have consistently aimed to foster a representative, inclusive, and empowered membership. APPNE has truly become the voice of Pakistani doctors.
In today’s evolving world, the healthcare landscape presents us with new and complex challenges. Inclusive representation and collective advocacy are more essential than ever. To overcome these challenges, we must harness the collective strength of our membership.
I am keen to see our organisation grow by welcoming new members who can bring fresh talent, insight, and vision to APPNE. A united voice is a powerful one—and we can only be heard if we speak together. Our focus will be on expanding our membership, keeping current members actively engaged, and ensuring that everyone feels valued and heard.
My aim is to inspire greater participation. I encourage each of you to consider giving back—by leading, mentoring, or simply becoming more involved. And to those already in leadership—reach out, support others, and invite them to step forward.
Join a committee—be it in the General Medical Council, the Royal Colleges, IMG support, legal and immigration matters, constitutional reforms, sports, or education.
Friends, as we look to the future, I am committed to fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and mutual respect. Every voice matters. Every idea holds the power to inspire change. And each one of you has a role in shaping our shared journey.
As many of you know, my door is always open. Your feedback, concerns, and suggestions are always welcome and valued.
Let us come together—as one team, one community, one APPNE—to support one another, to grow stronger, and to move forward with purpose.
History
We are a democratic, representative organisation of doctors of Pakistani origin residing in Northern Europe and British Asian Pakistani graduates from medical schools in the UK and Europe.
It is our mission to be the voice of these doctors and give them a singular platform, acknowledging their achievements and attainments. We aim to help junior doctors achieve excellence in patient care through educational programmes and to contribute to healthcare both in Pakistan and Northern Europe. We will endeavour to work in advisory capacities with various regulatory and training bodies to improve medical infrastructures, the quality of medical education, student exchange programmes and support for Pakistani doctors intending to travel to Europe for higher education and post graduate training.
We would be most grateful for your support and envisage your advice and patronage both within Europe and Pakistan to help strengthen the mission of APPNE. It will be an honour and a great pleasure to work with the Government of Pakistan to promote healthcare in Pakistan and the welfare of Pakistani origin doctors in UK and Europe. We look forward to your participation at forthcoming APPNE events.
