MEDICINE UNIT-I
Department of Medicine, Rawalpindi Medical University comprises 5 medical units. Patient care, clinical teaching of Medical Students, and Post Graduate Trainees along with research focusing our own needs are responsibilities of Department of Medicine. Medical Units at HFH and BBH are on alternate day calls while Medical Unit DHQH is on daily call. In addition to Internal Medicine services, ICU care, Pulmonology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, and Nephrology services are provided under umbrella of Medical Units. Medical Units reinforced/supported/supervised Department of Infectious Diseases HFH during Dengue, Rawalpindi Epidemic 2019 at HFH. Medical Units managed Dengue patients at BBH, andDHQH them with the help of Divisional Dengue Expert Group during the same. On average ≥250 patients are seen in OPD, and ≥12 patients are admitted by each Medical Unit per day.
