1. What is the Video Journal of Rawalpindi Medical University (VJRMU)?

The Video Journal of Rawalpindi Medical University (VJRMU) is a digital academic platform dedicated to sharing medical education, research, and clinical expertise through video-based publications. It allows students, faculty, and healthcare professionals to present their research, clinical cases, and innovative teaching materials in an engaging visual format.


2. Who can submit videos to VJRMU?

Submissions are welcome from:

  • RMU faculty members and postgraduate trainees
  • Undergraduate medical and dental students
  • Researchers and clinicians affiliated with RMU and its teaching hospitals
  • Collaborators from other recognized medical institutions (subject to editorial approval)

3. What kind of videos are accepted?

VJRMU accepts a variety of educational and research-based videos, including:

  • Clinical or surgical demonstrations
  • Case presentations
  • Original research summaries
  • Educational tutorials and lectures
  • Expert interviews and discussions
  • Health awareness videos and community projects

4. How can I submit my video?

You can submit your video by sending it to vj@rmu.edu.pk along with all required documents (title page, abstract, consent forms, etc.). The submission guidelines are available on the RMU website under the Video Journal section.


5. What are the technical requirements for video submission?

  • Format: MP4 or MOV
  • Resolution: Minimum 1080p (Full HD)
  • Duration: 5–15 minutes
  • Language: English or Urdu (with English subtitles preferred)
  • Audio: Clear narration and background sound
  • Editing: Professionally edited with titles, labels, and credits

6. Is there any publication fee?

Currently, there is no publication fee for submissions from RMU faculty, students, or affiliated hospitals. External contributors may be subject to a small processing fee, which will be communicated upon submission.


7. What is the review process?

All submitted videos undergo:

  1. Initial Screening by the editorial office for quality and ethics compliance.
  2. Peer Review by at least two subject experts.
  3. Final Approval by the Editorial Board before publication.

Authors may be asked to revise or re-edit their videos based on reviewer feedback.


8. Will I receive credit for my video publication?

Yes. Each published video is recognized as an academic publication and will include author names, affiliations, and a citation format. It may also be assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) for indexing and referencing purposes.


9. Are patient consent and ethical approval required?

Yes. Any video featuring identifiable patients must include written informed consent. Videos involving research data or human participants must have ethical approval from the relevant Institutional Review Board (IRB).


10. Can I submit a video that has been published elsewhere?

No. VJRMU only accepts original submissions that have not been previously published or submitted to another journal. However, authors may adapt previously presented conference material into a video format with proper acknowledgment.


11. Can I collaborate with other institutions or professionals?

Absolutely. Collaborative submissions are encouraged, provided all contributors meet authorship criteria and have agreed to the final version of the video and accompanying documents.


12. How long does the review and publication process take?

The review process typically takes 4–6 weeks, depending on the number of submissions and reviewer availability. Authors will be notified of the decision via email.


13. Will my video be publicly accessible?

Yes. All accepted videos will be published on the official VJRMU website and YouTube channel, and shared through RMU’s digital academic platforms for wider educational reach.


14. Can I withdraw my submission after submission?

Yes, authors may request withdrawal by emailing the editorial office at vj@rmu.edu.pk before the video enters the final production stage.
