VISION

Rawalpindi Medical University is a rapidly succeeding university with a broad vision to elevate the standards of healthcare. This certification program is also part of the same endeavor. RMU is starting this certification program to enhance the competency of participants in better and quick diagnosis of patients . This program is intended to  emphasize on better understanding of basic techniques of sonography and interpretation of common pathologies.

 Rawalpindi Medical University is committed to provide full support for the implementation of this certificate course by allocating necessary resources, promoting faculty development and establishing an ample monitoring system to meet with the international standards.

        Summative assessment (80%) (at the end of each semester)

 

        Attendance (5%)

OBJECTIVES:

The objectives of the study are as follows

1.     The participants should be able to understand ultrasound in its full sense as lifelong activity and that he/she is prepared to invest time and effort to acquire, maintain and further improve his/her own knowledge and skills.

2.     A critical appreciation of techniques, procedures carried out in basic sonology.

3.     The ability and willingness to adopt a problem solving approach to manage clinical situations included in the definition of basic sonology.

 

4.     Participants should acquire ability to perform ultrasounds with interpretation of common problems

        Interactive session every Monday (8am to 2 pm)

 

        Hands on session next two days (8am to 2pm)

Semester-I:

Abdominal Ultrasound (50%)

Semester-II:

Obstetric ultrasounds——20%

Pelvic ultrasounds——–20%

 

Small parts ultrasound——-10%

        MBBS (with house job) and having 02 years recognized clinical experience.

        Family physician

        PG residents (having complete their training) from all specialties
