He facilitated institutional medical educationists in acquisition of faculty members with innovative teaching strategies particularly Problem Based Learning (PBL).
Medical education in RMC was further revolutionized by keen interest of Prof. Muhammad Umar after 2013 when he held the charge as Principal RMC. Now he is leading the institution as Vice Chancellor on up gradation of RMC to RMU. He took all the fundamental initiatives deemed essential for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of the dedicated teaching staff of the University deputed both in Basic as well as Clinical Sciences by organizing workshops and guest forum lectures. Both national and International medical experts were warmly welcomed at RMU for sharing their prestigious experiences.
Prof. Muhammad Umar not only took keen interest in perfection of undergraduate medical education (MBBS, Nursing & Allied Health Sciences) but also started novel postgraduate training programs (PhD, M.Phil , Masters, MS, MD, Diploma and certificate courses) by inspiring the faculty members for educational planning and competency assessment. Splendid energies were also spent for accreditation of newly introduced programs by accrediting bodies. He also strived for development of research culture among under graduates, post graduates and faculty by launching JRMC, SJRMC and organization of RECON and Resident Research Forum. Capacity building for research was modernized by establishment of IREF, ORIC and BASR. Remarkable efforts were also made to maintain the quality of teaching and learning at RMU in all aspects by founding Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC).
The strenuous efforts made by Prof. Muhammad Umar in advancement of Medical Education at RMU are truly commendable. His endeavour for internalization of RMU along with standardization of all the systems will make this University sparkle very soon among globally highly ranked institutes
